There is a tanka by Shunzei (here in LaFleur's translation):

'Right here and now!
I watch the sun slip away,
thoughts gone to the west
paradise of Amida, where
this is the sky of nightfall.'

Mine:

Here, now, this present
watching as the sun departs
thinking of the West
of Amida, out there, where
this is its high thesterness.

In Lojban:

"He had collected all kinds or knives, sharp tools, picks, sheep shears, etc. and had them all impaled in the walls of his living room. It was covered in weapons stuck in the wall. There was an axe on a Christmas tree stand that turned and played Silent Night. It had Bible verses glued to it. He said some guy had come over to collect on a drug debt, and he chopped off his ear with the axe. The ear was stuck in the wall by an icepick that was about 14" long. In the corner was a glass 5 gal water jug with neon tubes in it that pulsed. They were lit by an electric fence power pack he'd found." --Bobby B. on Facebook

      1.

A rich enclave in the southern part of the city. Its hilly, winding streets have never been mapped. I never met anyone who had ever lived there. For a short time i threw a paper route in the area. I came to believe something caused the streets to permute into a different configuration every night.

      2.

First day of work at the new job. Every computer is turned to the same image. I've never seen streaming video before, & i have trouble figuring out what i'm seeing. Smoke is churning like a moving wall through downtown streets. Again & again an airplane hits one tower. An explosion. Then the second plane.
